On 1 January 2012 new rules came into force concerning boiler flue pipes that go through hidden spaces (called 'voids'), such as ceilings, floors and lofts.

The new rules will affect anyone with a modern room sealed, fan assisted boiler where the boiler flue goes through a void.

You will have until 31 December 2012 to fit inspection hatches or access panels, but after that your boiler could be condemned if the flue can't be inspected properly.
