HELP STAMP OUT COWBOY PLUMBERS!
The Government is working hard to stamp out 'cowboy' plumbers
and you can play your part too!
The water industry has set up the 'Water Industry Approved Plumber' (or
WIAPs) scheme to help customers only hire plumbers who:
-
are suitably trained;
-
have technical knowledge of the water regulations demonstrated
through a formal assessment process; and
-
have appropriate public libility insurance cover for
plumbing.
It is a criminal offence to do plumbing work which contravenes the water regulations,
so protect yourself with a WIAPs approved plumber.

HELP US HELP YOU!
Hire only a 'WIAPs' member, someone displaying the logo
you see here, and check their credentials by visiting
the registration site.
The benefits are that your plumber:
-
will have been trained to a high standard in plumbing work;
-
will know the rules for obtaining local authority clearance for plumbing work; and
-
can self-certify plumbing work, such as installing
MegaFlos and new cold water supplies, so you needn't wait for local authority
approval before jobs commence.
The downside from hiring a cowboy plumber can be devastating, so let's hope they all
come to a sticky
end.
