WHAT IS A PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE?
A pressure reducing valve is a device to bring down the pressure of water in a system
to a specific level or maximum.
Pressure reducing valves are usually fitted into water systems where mains water pressure
would damage components in a system or to prevent devices from becoming over-pressurised,
which might cause safety devices to activate.
HOW DOES A PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE WORK?
Usually pressure reducing valves work by restricting the flow of water through the
valve.
On some versions the pressure reduction can be varied, usually by adjusting the flow
rate through the valve or the tension on a spring. |
